Detailed Summary

 

The Second Chapter is a new podcast by theatre and production company, Slackline Productions. Slackline founder, Kristin Duffy, takes Slackline’s mission of highlighting women’s stories, especially those of women aged 35-plus, a step further, talking with real women about changing their careers and/or their lives after 35. Each week, Kristin, who had her own career evolution past-35, chats with a guest who has dramatically changed the course of their life without age being a limiter. Guests have included a sex therapist turned actor, a Tube driver turned TV writer, a social worker turned the UK's only practicing Orthodox Jew stand up comedian and more. Recent guests have also included well-loved actor/novelist/olive farmer, Carol Drinkwater, and A'Lelia Bundles, journalist, writer and historian who featured on Forbes' 50 Over 50 Impact list. 

 

Injecting her signature positivity and that of her guests, Kristin gets to the bottom of why women look for change after 35, the challenges they have faced, and what inspires them to keep going.

ABOUT THE HOST

 

The Second Chapter is hosted by Slackline Productions founder, Kristin Duffy. 

 

Kristin is an actor, the founder and artistic director of production company Slackline Productions, and podcaster. She also hosts workshops through The Actors Company London and is a triathlon coach. 

 

Frustrated by the lack of meaningful roles for women over 35 and a feeling of helplessness in her own career, Kristin took matters into her own hands. She started Slackline to redress the balance of the stories being told and who is telling them, putting women in the driver’s seat as writers, directors and characters in the stories they present. 

 

Prior to moving to London, US-native Kristin Duffy was a fashion designer in New York City, focusing on kids and baby and including a stint as design director for baby boys at babyGap. She is also an avid triathlete and has completed five Iron-distance triathlons.
